Its mediocre Mexican food. I love spicy food and nothing here seems to have the spicy level I would want at a Mexican restaurant. Its so loud there all the time and its very claustrophobic. Over all not impressed

I really enjoyed the food. The green and red hot sause was way too spicy, but still good.

Visiting from Dallas, two laid-back folks, with my 4lb Chihuahua dog who is super chill, barely noticeable, educated and well-behaved. We came in as the restaurant was recommended by an antique store among a handful others. We got there, walk in and get a table. A lady comes up our table and she without saying hello or anything at all, no greetings, straight to looking at my dog and telling me “I know that’s not a service dog” to which I said, she actually is an ESA, that I had a doctor’s note from my PCP from Baylor Hospital and that she was an ESA. She replied “no, she’s not, and no you don’t have a note”. Honestly, I could’ve pulled up my letter but honestly the way she approached us, we felt kicked out of the restaurant and we walked out. I understand they can have their rules and that an ESA is not a service dog, I’m aware of that. But, boy couldn’t she be ruder? Everyone around in Tyler and the surroundings have been a true testament of Southern hospitality, except for the lady. 1 person out of dozens, at least we left knowing where not to go again ever when we are in the area. We would review the food had we had a chance, but if service was bad, then it’s a hard pass for us.

I had a tough time deciding how to rate this place. It is clean, food is fresh, service is good, and my husband loved his meal. I have a few complaints but they're more about the taste, and everyone is different in what they like so I couldn't rate it too low just for that. I had the fish tacos. If you like garlic....I mean lots of garlic.... you will love these. I could taste nothing but garlic in the fish. Some menu items say garlic sauce. The fish tacos (listed as Sylvia's Choice ) just say grilled fish. If you're going to load a dish up with that much garlic, it should be on the description. I ate 1/2 of 1 taco and that's all I could eat, the taste was so strong. Also, beware of the salsa if you don't like heat! My husband loves heat and couldn't eat the red salsa. Both options were too hot for me. I like medium heat. The guacamole was also too spicy. So, this particular meal was only a 2 rating for me. I ate the rice and beans and that's all I could eat. I'll try it again mostly because my husband really enjoyed it, but next time I'll ask ahead about dishes and how they're prepared when I order.

Always a good time at Don Juan! The food is always consistently good, and the drinks! Get off your phone and go get a Big Steve. Heck, get 2 of em! You can't go wrong. But seriously being the family down and grab a bite. It's one of the best in town.
